Flipside Band is an organic grouping of musicians, each multi talented in his own right, who perform regularly at corporate gigs, weddings and venues that appreciate the boost to ambience and experience live music delivers.

Front man & band manager Kris Wason, a singer songwriter, has been professionally performing fulltime for many years.

Skilled and seasoned musicians with second to none vocals, FLIPSIDE deliver a high quality performance and outstanding entertainment, be it with a 3 or 9 piece band playing all the hits from the 50’s to now.

Originally from north Queensland, FLIPSIDE’s front man, moved to Brisbane when he was 12 and is now firmly settled on the Gold Coast. The son of a musician/songwriter, Kris has been performing since he was 11. By High School, he had to choose between music and playing Rugby League, so he went with his grand passion and has never looked back.

Kris has generated the following and the professional reputation to dedicate himself solely to his craft. His versatile vocals and soulful guitar accompaniment are in demand interstate and in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. Inspired by the talents and anthems of the Bee Gees, Franki Valli, Michael Jackson, Crowded House, Bruno Mars, Guy Sebastian, and more recently hit-maker and balladeer, Ed Sheeran, Kris has his own unique style that is more than an amalgam of influences, but a product of his upbringing.

“My father, Robbie Wason has been a huge impact from the beginning as he was a musician himself. His songwriting is amazing. If it weren’t for him, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today.

“I’m self-taught in every aspect in music, even vocals. I picked up the acoustic guitar, my father showed me a couple chords and I took the rest from there. I play multiple instruments: Acoustic, Electric and Bass Guitar, Keyboards and Harmonica.”

A seasoned soloist, Kris relishes the chance to collaborate with the equally talented members of Flipside, sharing the stage and the warmth of the audience’s response with musicians who are as dedicated as he is.

Andy has been playing guitar for 24 of his 30 years on this planet - he barely remembers life without a guitar in his grip! After playing in several incarnations of ambitious High School bands, Andy went on to study and hone the craft of guitar studying a Bachelor of Contemporary Music majoring in guitar performance at SCU. Under the master tutelage of Jim Kelly, Andy decided that the only path for him in this world would be playing and teaching guitar.

Since graduating, Andy has been teaching guitar full time and playing in many different bands. Among the highlights of his career to date would have be recording as a session guitarist in some of Australia’s best studios and touring along the east coast. While his focus has been playing in original bands over the past decade, Andy has found a niche with some of the busiest covers bands on the south-east Queensland circuit – and now Flipside.

Although Andy loves to shred with his lead playing, he has a deep appreciation of the groove with his rhythm playing, and is able to lock in with whoever he's playing with.
